WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO

It was 1986 when retired Boone Methodist minister, Jerry LaMotte, proposed his idea to establish an endowment fund for Boone schools.  LaMotte’s belief in the necessity that Boone youth avail themselves of the very best educational opportunities and a community effort of concerned parents and friends must be willing to give resources to help assure this goal was the catalyst that lead to the creation of this endowment.  What came next was an appointment of nine Boone residents to a committee in charge of the Boone Educational Endowment Fund.  The group tasked with spearheading a campaign to raise money for educational excellence and get Boone residents to invest in the schools through payment plans and private endowments began to grow the endowment fund to its current level.

Since our launch, the BEEF Board of Directors have been working hard to promote our causes. While there is always more that can be done to help those in need in our community, there’s no doubt that we are making a significant impact. See how you can become part of the difference.

The Board of Directors would like to remind all donors that BEEF is a 501 (c)(3) and your donation may be tax deductible.  All Board members serve on a volunteer basis and the foundation operates with minimal operating expenses.  With little to no operating expenses, 99% or more of your donation stays in the foundation and the interest on the assets is distributed annually, so your gift is truly a gift that keeps on giving.

HOW SCHOOLS MAKE REQUESTS

Grant applications

Our board of directors meet every May to review grant funding requests.  Each school has the option to submit innovative ideas to the principals in their buildings.  Once the proposal is approved by the principal it is submitted to BEEF, we review it and fund projects that improve outcomes for children and promote learning in Boone schools!  Projects we've funded include anything from digital equipment, learning resources and equipment to manipulatives, specialized seating or tables.  Grant applications are accepted from February 1st through April 15th annually, with an invoice date of December 15th.  In general BEEF does not provide monies for capital construction funds, general fundraising efforts or projects aimed at supporting political agendas.
